Leaked Photos 9 Cell Battery Would Boost Netbook Stamina

Two weeks ago Wired.com’s Charlie Sorrel had a nerd-rection over his MSI Wind-clone netbook. But he still dreams of the perfect laptop: "A tiny, full featured computer in your bag, a device so
small and light you never notice it’s there. A machine with a battery
life so long you treat it like a cellphone."

A German blog EeePC News has leaked pictures suggesting netbooks are close to turning that second part (i.e. long battery life) of Charlie’s geek fantasy into a hardened reality. The photos present a sexy MSI Wind from several angles, revealing — boo ya! A 9-cell battery.

Mind you, the battery makes the netbook look a little big from behind, but most current netbooks come with standard 3- or 4-cell batteries, which only put out for a measly three hours max. Adding a 9-cell battery is the netbook equivalent of tiger balm, greatly extending run time to about 9 or 10 hours.

No word on a release date or price yet, but I’m fairly sure when Charlie snatches one of these babies up he’s going to call in sick to, uh, spend time with his family.
